Biodegradable gabions made from starch
ALTERNATIVE TO METAL GABIONS
Oyster restoration efforts all over the world use gabions to restore oyster reefs. The gabions are filled with oystershells and placed into the water to recruit oysters. The metal however, remains and pollutes the ecosystem. BESE-products offers a gabion made from starch. The gabion is fully biodegredable. After oysters have colonized the structure the gabion will fall apart, leaving only the restored reef behind.
The BESE-gabion is adjustable in different sizes and consists of loose sheets. By clicking the sides together you can form a cage.
The biodegradable gabion can also function as a grow out bag for aquatic vegetation like riverbank vegetation and submerged aquatic vegetation, by filling the gabions with young plants.
Moreover the sheets of the gabion can also be used as loose sheets to from oysters mats for example.
