Solutions: Mussels to filter water and improve water quality
The contractor and city council, wanted to improve the water quality in the canals around the apartment complex. They came across the BESE-elements.
Design: BESE-elements for mussel settlement
Under each of five of the jetties three blocks of 25-layered BESE-elements were placed to provide habitat for mussels. Over time mussels can attach to the BESE-elements and start to filter the water, improving the water quality.
